As tough they never melt, and mist, and cloud,
The earth is in death’s last embraces shroud,
While the cold night-winds round the tomb are sighing.
And through the lone and empty casements streaming,
From the dark heavens the silvery moon is gleaming,
And lighting up the scene with mournful glance.
And slow, and solemn, through the churchyard gate,
Hushed as the spirit of avenging fate,
Behold the sad and funeral train advance.

This was my introduction into dungeon synth/black ambient. I remember first blasting this song on my way to playing Volleyball with a couple of mates and being intrigued by this type of sound. After digging further into dungeon synth this is still one of my favorites!

Hellenic black metal fascinated me early on due to it's magic feeling, raw energy and deep connection to the myths of old. Macabre Omen perfectly captures these characteristics and is among the best from that era. Anamneses is just a phenomenal compilation. I am so glad these precious demo tapes were not lost in time.
